SUBANG - Ade Patas, owner of Small and Medium Industries (IKM) Alam Sari mushroom cultivation in Subang, West Java, claimed that since applying cyclone burning stoves developed by the Mineral and Coal Technology Research and Development Center (tekMIRA), the Research and Development Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, he could save Rp. 200,000 in every process of sterilization mushroom planting media.

"Sterilization is carried out 3 times a week, so with this cyclone burner I can save fuel costs up to Rp. 28 million per year, very economical, very beneficial for us, the Small and Medium Industries (IKM) who generally have small capital," said the man who started the business in 2005 is at his workplace in Subang (27/7). Now Ade has supplied oyster mushrooms covering the Indramayu region, Bandung Cirebon, Bekasi, Jakarta to Tangerang. Most of the mushroom products are sent to the market, supermarkets and also hotels.

Ade said that before, he used LPG gas and firewood for his business, but LPG prices were increasingly expensive and the supply of firewood was often stalled. This difficulty makes Ade interested in implementing a cyclone burner. After using a cyclone burner, the fuel costs are now only Rp. 30,000 to buy coal and biomass in the form of sawdust. With this coal and biomass co firing technology, he can also utilize waste from the mushroom planting media.

"Previously, we were overwhelmed by disposing of used mushroom planting media every time we harvest because this medium can only be used for one planting. We used to sell planting media waste to farmers, but the amount of waste taken by farmers has not been fully absorbed, so the residual waste accumulates behind home, "he said.

Ade mixes the planting media waste for fuel so that it can reduce the consumption of sawdust for cyclone-burning fuel. Occasionally he did not use coal, and replaced the whole fuel with planting media waste and sawdust.

"When using biomass only, the burning time is longer, but it is still shorter than using firewood." Ade said. In one sterilization process, Ade uses four stoves at the same time, one stove  using cyclone burners while the other three stoves use firewood.

Ade explained, in the stage of oyster mushroom cultivation, there is a planting media sterilization process with an LPG gas-fired steam oven and firewood. This sterilization serves to kill microbial spores in a fast time. This process generally requires high pressure steam / steam in up to 10 hours. The oven cyclone cooking furnace is able to steam the planting medium with a faster time, which is only 4 hours.

Cyclone Burner Technology Helps IKM Provide Clean and Cheap Energy

On the same occasion, Expert Staff of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources for the National Energy Board, Sugita said that the commercialization of cyclone burning stoves might not provide a big advantage for BLU tekMIRA. However, he said, the most important thing about this technology is that it helps Small and Medium Industries (IKM)  in providing new energy cheaply. This was followed by the Head of the Research and Technology Center for Research and Development, Hermansyah.

"Cyclone burner furnace is the precise technology for Small and Medium Industries (IKM), because it is user friendly, cheap, easy with high efficiency", said Hermansyah. Hermansyah explained that BLU Tekmira is currently developing cooperation in the commercialization of cyclone burning furnaces which includes cooperation with several workshops to facilitate the manufacturing of cyclone furnace equipment and guarantee coal supply for fuel supply to users.

In Subang itself, there are at least 200 potential mushroom cultivation Small and Medium Industries (IKM) to be projected as users of cyclone burning stoves. President Director of PT Almira Energi Subang Teddy Soejarwanto believes the oyster mushroom market is remarkable. There are more than mushroom cultivation Small and Medium Industries (IKM) need assistance to increase production capacity and optimize the management of the production process to be more efficient. k
