Solar Street Lighting, Able to Save on Sawahlunto City Budget

After reviewing the construction of Public Street Lighting - Solar Power (PJU-TS) in Tanah Datar District, West Sumatra, Saturday (23/2) yesterday, today the Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) inaugurated the 388 centralized Public Street Lighting - Solar Power (PJU-TS) in Bukik Gadang Village, Sawahlunto City.

The Public Street Lighting - Solar Power (PJU-TS) which was inaugurated today includes the construction of the Public Street Lighting - Solar Power (PJU-TS) in Sawahlunto City (200 points); Solok Regency (20 points); Agam Regency (50 points); Sijunjung Regency (85 points); and Payakumbuh District (33 points).

This inauguration complements the entire construction of the Public Street Lighting - Solar Power (PJU-TS) built by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources in 2018 in West Sumatra with a total of 707 points.

Arcandra said that this solar-powered lamp is a solution for street lighting in areas that have not been reached by PLN electricity as well as a real form of government presence that is beneficial to the people.

Arcandra explained, in addition to aiming to reduce accident rates, the installation of Public Street Lighting - Solar Power (PJU-TS) is also expected to be able to increase the economic growth of the local community. Every Public Street Lighting (PJU) installation project in various regions in Indonesia always involves local labor.
"This project must be able to increase the economic growth of the local community and be able to reduce poverty " explained Arcandra.

Appreciation was also conveyed for the support of the Provincial Government of West Sumatra, Sawahlunto City Government, Payakumbuh, and Solok Regency Government, Agam, and Sijunjung, so that the installation of Public Street Lighting - Solar Power (PJU-TS) could be carried out. The hope, continued Arcandra, is that the infrastructure that has been built can be managed and maintained by the Regional Government and the community, so that the benefits can be felt by the community for a long time.

"My message is to be treated and maintained so that the benefits can be used for a long time," concluded Arcandra.

On this occasion, Mayor of Sawahlunto Deri Asta, admitted that the presence of this Public Street Lighting - Solar Power (PJU-TS) is very necessary, considering that in Sawahlunto it has hilly geography and inadequate roadside electricity networks. In addition, every year street lighting in the city of Sawahlunto requires a bill of approximately Rp 2 billion and weighs heavily on the Regional Budget (APBD) of the city of Sawahlunto.

"With the presence of Public Street Lighting - Solar Power (PJU-TS), it is very beneficial. With the savings of Rp. 2 billion, it is very meaningful for the city budget of Sawahlunto," said Deri.
For information, for urban areas, Public Street Lighting - Solar Power (PJU-TS) has the benefit of saving electricity use in the main road area, residential area roads, industrial estates, and other public facilities. "And we hope that next year will be added to the area of Sawahlunto City," Deri concluded.
After the inauguration, Arcandra also carried out a review of the installation of Public Street Lighting - Solar Power (PJU-TS) at Al Mubarakah, Jawi-Jawi Mosque, Solok Regency to ensure that the installation of the Public Street Lighting - Solar Power (PJU-TS) was well implemented. (sk)
