Inaugurates  Centralized Solar Power Plant 100 kWp at Balang Datu Village, Director General of EBTKE: State Present to Provide Electricity.

Director General of New Energy, Renewable and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Rida Mulyana, on Friday (9/2), inaugurated the Centralized Solar Power Plant (PLTS) with a capacity of 100 kilo watt peak (kWp ), in Balang Datu Village, Mappakasunggu District, Takalar District, South Sulawesi Province.

PLTS whose development is carried out by the Directorate General (DG) of EBTKE in Fiscal Year 2016 is able to illuminate 422 houses and 8 public facilities. The development of PLTS in remote areas, small islands and border areas is one of the government's programs to increase energy access to the community. Power plants in these areas take advantage of local energy potential.

Rida explained that Balang Datu village belongs to an isolated village category. In Indonesia, there are more than 2,500 villages similar to Balang Datu.

"There are still our brothers and sisters,  seeing the light bulb has never let alone feel the brightness of electricity, without electricity the growth will be slow," said Rida.

PT PLN, he continued, in charge to illuminate, has a limited ability, because the breadth of Indonesia, from Sabang to Merauke, from Miangas to Rote island. People living in pitch dark at night, today number more than 10 million inhabitants.

"The community can not be left alone (darkness) like that, so the State is present in the form of providing electricity which happens to be the areas that can not be reached by PLN, why immediately because this concerns justice," said Rida.

To that end, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Ignasius Jonan proclaimed the spirit of Justice Energy, where energy should be enjoyed by all Indonesian people at an affordable price. One way is to build a power plant that utilizes local resources.

"People in Papua, if we ask what they need, one word that they express, I want a lamp, that is light, because it is dark at night, that is, lighting is needed because it will open civilization," explained Rida.

Meanwhile, Takalar District Secretary Nirwan Nasrullah expressed his gratitude for the construction of this Solar Power Plant (PLTS). According to him, with the electricity of children can learn at night. In addition, villagers who mostly work as fishermen and farmers can also develop their business better.

" Solar Power Plant (PLTS)  is built with great difficulty, because the material is transported by sea and taken to the location little by little. The struggle is very large to build this  (PLTS) . With the electricity, the Balang Datu is no longer remote. Our superior products, lobster , we can shrimp marketed via the internet. With electricity is very helpful to develop science and economy, "said Nirwan.

The journey to Balang Datu Village takes about 30-45 minutes by speedboat or 60-90 minutes if using a motor boat from the Old Takalar Port to Dang Balang Dock. When the rain and the waves are high, the time it takes is much longer.

For information, in Fiscal Year 2016 and 2017, DG EBTKE, Ministry of ESDM has implemented 5 units of Centralized PLTS Electric Power Station located in Rewataya Village (Dusun Rewataya (50 kWp) and Lantang Peo Hamlet at 50 kWp); Mattirobajji Village (Dusun Satanggalau (30 kWp) and Labotallua Hamlet, capacity 30kWp) and Centralized PLTS in Balang Datu Village, Mappakasunggu District, Takalar District, which was inaugurated today. The total capacity of all Centralized PLTS is 260 kWp and powering more than a thousand homes and 40 public facilities.
